Nothofagus cunninghamii

Cool temperature rainforest species is found extensively in Tasmania and Victoria. Its regeneration cycle can range up to to 500 years.

The timber varies in colour from pale pink, deep red and pale yellow-grey streaks. It is believed the makeup of the soil determines the colour. The grain is mainly straight but sometimes is wavy featuring growth rings. The timbers texture is fine, uniformed and smooth.
