From prisoners and free settlers all the way through to todays entrepreneurs, we have seen them all - and we are still salvaging timber, managing the valuable timber resource and being the most responsible harvesters of Huon and other valuable Tasmanian timber species in Tasmania. Sustainable timber management has a special meaning if we have to wait 1000 years for a Huon Pine to mature. The bulk of the Tasmanian industry practice is to cut down then cultivate and grow mono-culture in place of the quality native species. We only harvest old discarded stumps and trunks - no new trees are milled. Tasmanian Special Timbers has a long history of managing Tasmania's exotic timbers in a sustainable manner.

Our timbers include Blackwood, Celery Top Pine, Huon Pine, King William Pine, Leatherwood, Myrtle and Sassafras. Some of the Huon Pine logs have been carbon dated and have been established to be greater than 4,000 years old.
